Minimeeting is back

We are pleased to give you an update on the planning of the minimeeting to be held here in Edinburgh in the Spring of 2010. Organisation and plans are evolving well and we are pleased to see the return of the minimeeting to the ELASA calendar.
For those of you who may be unaware we volunteered to organise the minimeeting at the Representatives meeting in Romania in the summer as unfortunately there was no minimeeting in 2009. So on a tighter time frame we have been working hard to arrange a stimulating, interesting and fun programme that will challenge you to in many ways.

For the moment this is an intro email to give you the basic details so you can see if the dates fit into your programme in what is I’m sure a very busy Spring/Summer semester. This year we have decided to make it a little earlier than in the past in order to try to avoid big clashes with exams and handins, of course though we realise this is a busy time of year and it is impossible to fit into eveyone’s timetable. So, the details below are the basics and are meant to allow you to investigate travel arrangements, visa arrangements etc etc to see what is available and necessary.
Of course we know that cost is a major factor and often the deciding factor for many of you, but I hope you can appreciate we are still in the process of calculating costs, seeking sponsorship etc so PLEASE DO NOT ASK US THE COST AT THIS TIME. We will not be able to tell you yet. Of course I hope it goes without saying that we will make is as low as possible.

EFLA

This years EFLA (European Foundation for Landscape Architecture) celebrates its 20th anniversary. Three students from ELASA Guntis Ratkevics (Latvia) Thilo Grassmann (Germany) Johannes Richter (Germany) participated at the EFLA meeting held in Bruxelles from 20th to 22nd of November 2009 to represent the ELASA, strengthen the contact between students and professionals and keep ELASA

LE:NOTRE Spring workshop 2009

With the compiling of this year’s ELASA annual report in mind, we’d like to fill in a few blank spots of what has been done the past year, more specifically in regards to LE:NOTRE.IMG_9801

For those who haven’t heard of  LE:NOTRE yet, it is a Thematic Network Project that was founded by ECLAS (European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools). This thematic networks connects over 100 landscape architecture universities as well as other important European stakeholders, and more recently (LE:NOTRE TWO) an even wider group of organizations and individuals, such as landscape architecture students and practitioners. Besides from strengthening the European landscape architecture academic community, the project website (le-notre.org) functions as a resource database where information (literature database, design projects, images,…) can be shared and found. Most likely your school is already connected to this network, which means they have the ability to create a login for their students. So in case you weren’t provided with a login to the site already, you could ask for one to your school’s listed contact person.

Dear Elasians,

I trust this finds you all well and energised for the upcoming year. I’m writing to you here from the UK, just about having had a chance to recover from the Annual Meeting in Romania- quite simply it was MASSIVELY amazing! I’m sure that you will hear more from the organisers about the event, if not from fellow friends and course mates before too long, if not, ask! But in sure a MASSIVE thank you to all the organisers from Timisoara, Romania for their stamina, patience, enthusiasm and great banter. You all did a phenomenal job regardless of what was thrown at you! Thank you.7829_126533695679_803850679_2357992_1212319_n
